We designed the ground floor drawing room of this period home to complement the traditional elegance of the house.
The room is long but quite narrow with a grand piano at the garden end. Removing the bookshelves above the existing fitted cupboards and lining the alcoves with panelled, bevelled mirror glass instead enhanced the feeling of width and made the room much lighter. The existing sofas were re-upholstered in glamorous taupe velvet and I designed the tables and cabinet to work alongside the grand piano.
In contrast, I designed the basement in a more contemporary style. Combining a bathroom, utility room and workout space as well as a large, multi-functional living area, the family can watch films and sport together or my clients’ teenage son can entertain friends.
